Anthony Hickton
Senior Vice President
As Senior Vice President, Anthony wears many hats and pitches in on all of the work that the firm handles. With 28 years experience, he still hears the calling of public transit and answers that call in a variety of ways. Among many things, he is responsible for helping transit agencies generate revenue through transit advertising. And like Laurie and Lynn, Anthony loves people and is passionate about the vital role that public transit plays in society.
Transit, according to Anthony, is undervalued by many people in the United States. Except in big markets like New York City, people tend to look down on transit rather than seeing all of its many positive aspects. One of transit's many benefits is that it is green, a value Anthony uses to attract potential advertisers to the transit market. "Buses and other public transportation vehicles are the perfect place for advertisers hoping to be seen as environmentally-conscious. Actions speak louder than words, so brand-building begins when advertisers associate themselves with green solutions and advertise on buses or in transit stations. It is great 'green' brand recognition."
Transit agencies are revenue neutral and, in many cases, revenue negative and struggling to make ends meet. Transit advertising is a way for agencies to make money from their assets and sustain their operations. Anthony is especially good at identifying and exploiting those revenue generating opportunities.
Anthony started his career at Port Authority in an entry-level position and worked his way up. He held numerous managerial positions before becoming a director in charge of a division bringing in more than $1 million in advertising revenue annually. Coming from a large transit agency to Clear View, where he works with large as well as much smaller transit agencies, was an "eye-opening" experience. This is how he came to believe that transit systems on the whole are undervalued and under recognized. "It's unbelievable what they accomplish on limited budgets and with limited resources in order to serve people.”
Anthony finds the present and the future of public transportation equally rich in opportunity. "If people could understand how much money they'd save by riding transit while getting the time to read a book, catch up on email or just take a nap. What's not to love about that?"
When not working, Anthony loves to spend time with his wife and family as well as golf and work out.
"Life's a journey, not a destination."
